I could sum up my thoughts on the Grand Hotel Kronenhof in five words: she is the proverbial Unicorn. You know, something magical; something so perfect it doesn’t even seem like it&#;s real? And, I haven’t been able to stop talking about her since visiting.

Pontresina

The Grand Hotel Kronenhof is situated in the charming town of Pontresina, which is located in a valley near the Bernina Mountain Range. We had to pass through a much busier St. Moritz to get there and were pleasantly surprised to arrive in a smaller, quieter and equally beautiful Pontresina. And, although small, Pontresina is quite cosmopolitan with a variety of shops and some very worthy restaurants.

The Grand Dame

We pulled into the deceivingly small front entrance driveway and were taken to reception where we were warmly (and quickly) checked in. As we started our tour of the property, we were greeted and welcomed by the hotel manager.

Grand Hotel Kronenhof

Pontresina is known for its Bell Époque hotels and Grand Hotel Kronenhof is undoubtedly one of the best. Once we settled into our room, we went out to explore more of the property. On the main floor we found a billiards room, cards room and cigar room, each one designed true to the era and with the wood floors creaking below our feet. As my friend Megan said, “you can just feel the history”.

Along with these small rooms, there were multiple, larger ballrooms and entertainment rooms, all opulent and all with a commanding view of the towering mountains that surrounded us.

On another floor was a historic and beautifully maintained bowling alley.

And, my favorite room: the wine cellar, which I&#;ll gush over more below.

Following our tour, we were shown to our room which was located in the newest of the three wings. Our room had a long entry hallway that included unobtrusive built in closets the entire way down.

To the left of the hallway was a large, elegant marble bathroom with a separate shower and whirlpool soaking tub. The long hallway opened into a large room with a bed and a spacious sitting area and an outside deck that overlooked the river flowing through giant pine trees.

The entire design was clean, simple and modern with wooden touches that added warmth.

Spa

The Kronenhof spa is hands down the best spa I have ever been to. And at 21, square feet, it’s enough to keep you pleasantly occupied for hours on end. As you enter the main area of the spa, the large swimming pool that leads your eyes to the surrounding Alps outside, commands your attention.

In other areas of this floor you will find a water in motion pool, a steam bath, a salt grotto, saunas, a solarium (or the fitness room) and a relaxation room, complete with waterbeds and a fireplace.

All of this is at no additional charge if you are a hotel guest. Non-hotel guests can enjoy the facilities for a daily fee. Once a month they have night spa where the spa is open from 7pm to midnight with a few extra treats. On the floor above the main area is where all the treatment rooms are located. I received a fantastic massage and Megan had a facial.

Dining

The Kronenhof has multiple onsite dining options and can arrange unique dining experiences for you. Unfortunatley, we were too late (we couldn’t leave the spa) to enjoy the award-winning restaurant for dinner, but had the phenomenal breakfast, which included an expansive buffet, champagne and hot items made upon request.

The bar, also located on the main floor, is perfect for a nightcap and is regarded as one of the best Gin Bars in the Alps.

Wine cellar

There’s part of me, a very small part of me, that wants to keep this next part a secret, but that wouldn’t be very nice. On our last morning, the manager suggested that we take a tour down to the wine cellar. I figured they had a really nice wine selection that would be fun to take a look at. I had no idea what was in store for us. The Veltliner wine cellar was established in and within it are the original wine barrels and other original memorabilia. It is absolutely gorgeous and is also credited for keeping the hotel afloat during the first and second world wars.

The original wine barrels are in the first room upon entering and in the second room is the original lounge area with a bar and seating area lit by well over twenty chandeliers.

Summer Fun

During the warmer months, Pontresina offers beautiful hiking and the concierge was fantastic with helping us find the perfect hike for us.

We walked to the base of our hike and when we finished, we called the hotel and someone was waiting for us by the time we made it to the bottom via the funicular. In addition to hiking during the warmer seasons, the hotel offers e-bikes for guests to use to explore Pontresina and St. Moritz. We took them to a nearby lake where we enjoyed music, homemade blueberry pie and a glass of prosecco, all the while pinching ourselves and asking how this was even real life.

Kids

I don’t travel with kids (I don&#;t have any other than my English bulldog), so I typically don’t cover that aspect of traveling. However, Grand Hotel Kronenhof’s kid-friendliness is worth mentioning. They offer numerous activities, a kid’s club that I challenge any adult to try to stay out of, and a darling kids formal dining room that is adjacent to the main dining room.

While in the spa, I met a couple who travel to Europe every year and, for the past seven years, they have ended their vacation at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof. Hearing that didn’t surprise me in the least bit. It’s a special place. So special that, of all the places that my husband couldn’t join me on this Round the World trip, this is the place I want to return to with him.

You can find more information on the Grand Hotel Kronenhof here.

  • Take some time here. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay, but I would recommend four nights minimum.
  • Walk around and explore the property. There are surprises everywhere.
  • If you are usually a late diner (like me!), plan to have dinner a little earlier. And, make reservations.
  • In addition to Grand Hotel Kronenhof&#;s restaurants, check out Gianottois Wine Bar & Grill just down the road.
  • No matter what time of year you visit, don&#;t forget your swimsuit.

2nd Strongest Disabled Man in the World

When I was 16, I joined the British Army. I traveled the world, did a tour in Iraq, was a very keen sportsman and an adventure training instructor. I left the forces after 8 years for a more stable life with my wife and kids.

Adjusting to civilian life was difficult, so I started weight training and quite soon after that I signed up for my first Strongman contest. After that first contest, I was hooked! I loved everything about Strongman from training to competing. I was competing in competitions all across the U.K. at a good level, qualifying for Britain’s Strongest Man in my federation! However, in I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis! I’ve had a number of symptoms from spasms to mobility issues to hand issues. I have Secondary Progressive MS meaning my MS never gets better just progressively worse. I have multiple permanent scars on my spine due to previous attacks. I now suffer from mobility issues meaning I need to use a wheelchair or other mobility aids. This was a huge blow to me, I didn’t know what to think because MS is called a snowflake disability and no 2 cases are the same! All I knew was I wouldn’t be able to compete in the competitions that I loved&#;or so I thought!!

Rupert&#;s 1st Birthday

For quite a few months before Rupert was due to turn one, it was all I could think about. The build up was intense! I put a ridiculous amount of pressure on myself when it comes to things like this. BUT, I love putting my party planning hat on and getting to it &#; it&#;s a good distraction!

Up until two weeks before Rupert&#;s first birthday party, the theme was going to be his &#;first trip around the sun&#;. Think the moon, sun and stars. I was browsing bits online, having left the organising far too late and nothing was jumping out at me, (I had only made the invitations on an app on my phone by this point). I couldn&#;t really find much that I wanted for the day, so I scrapped the theme and swiftly typed, &#;bear party&#; into Pinterest. That was that. I have never ordered so many party decorations in such a short space of time!

I have always loved throwing parties, I love having a theme and setting up a space. We hosted Christmas dinner for the first time a couple of years ago and I think that is when I developed a real love for it and have been coming up with reasons to throw a party ever since!

Pinterest is my first port of call and then a few party supplying websites to get a general idea of what it is I want to do. I break everything down into categories, such as food, table decorations, cake etc. I am not very good at arts and crafts &#; so as much as I love putting everything together, it has to be stuff I can order &#; ready made &#; so I can place it where I want it. (Much less stressful too!).

OKAY, LET&#;S GO.

DECORATIONS

I have a few &#;go to&#; places when it comes to buying party decorations, The Original Party Bag Company being the main one. They stock two of my favourite brands, Ginger Ray & Meri Meri. I got all of the paper plates and napkins from there.

Party Pieces is my other fave and is where I spotted the &#;Adventure Awaits&#; garland &#; which is now half price! We always talk about adventure as a family, it seems to be an ongoing rhetoric so this was perfect.

You have probably seen the age by photos garland before, it seems as though everyone who has a baby turning one hangs one of these up at their party! It is such a wonderful way to see how they have changed month by month. I bought this one from Amazon and glued 4&#;6 photos onto each month so there was a bit of a border. I&#;ve kept this and put it in his memory box because I&#;m a bit sentimental like that!

bear Party Decorations

The little trees and pinecones were left over from Christmas, all from Hobbycraft. The confetti filled balloons were also Hobbycraft but by Ginger Ray.

One of my favourite little touches were the tree stump place settings. I cut up some brown card and used my Dymo, (honestly so handy to have!) to make labels. I made signs for the food which said, &#;forest berries&#;, &#;sticks&#;, (bought twiglets just for this reason!) &#;firewood&#; and the sausage rolls were &#;bears in blankets&#;. A nice touch which took minutes to set up.

FOOD

Party food. There is nothing quite like it. I always tend to stick to the same bits but then this time threw in some extras &#; purely to fit the bear/woodland theme. I always go to Marks & Spencer Food online and order one of their 30 piece chicken packs. All you have to do is pop them in the oven and they always go first!

Pizza, sausage rolls, chips and cocktail sausages are always big hits. Nothing very creative but just hearty food that makes me feel very nostalgic and everyone loves a classic. I always order a couple of salads from M&S too, the standard one and this time I got the Greek one which went down a treat.

If you are here for themed party food then you won&#;t be surprised to see that Pom Bears made it onto the table! I bought a bear shaped cutter and a woodland cutter set for the sandwiches &#; both the kids and the adults loved this touch!

I didn&#;t manage to get a photo of the desserts before they were descended upon but I normally do a couple of options for the adults &#; one of them being chocolate. We had apple crumble, meringues with berries and a chocolate trifle. The kids polished off an entire jelly! Oh and I also made some brookies which is an old recipe of Lily Pebbles and called them rocks!

Party Food for Bear Theme Party

Usually, I do some sort of &#;sweet&#; table for all of the party people. You know the ones that stay a lot longer than anyone else, talking in the kitchen until goodness knows what hour or dancing to the YMCA? People always want nibbles. Trail Mix isn&#;t really something we see in the UK but when I was looking for inspiration for the party it kept coming up again and again on the US sites.

WELL. I should have made one triple the size! Traditionally, it looks as though a trail mix is made up of granola, dried fruits, nuts and sometimes chocolate. Mine was mostly chocolate. And a bit of cereal for good measure, (mainly because it fit the theme!). Here is what I put in mine:

Malteasers
Minstrels
Milky Bar Buttons
Dairy Milk Giant Chocolate Buttons
Teaser Buttons
Twirl Bites
Cheerios
Teddy Grahams &#; I ordered a box of these from eBay

I found some woodland themed stickers online and stuck them onto brown paper bags for people to fill with as much of the trail mix as they wanted. The sign was a printable download from Etsy which I popped in a frame we already had.

Trail Mix using Chocolate and Cereal UK

I had seen the wonderful Mirlah from @themrsproject use @bkbiscuitco on Instagram for her son&#;s birthday and loved the idea! They come individually wrapped and last about a month. I handed any spare out to the adults as they were leaving or to anyone who couldn&#;t make the party. The @bkbiscuitco delivered big time &#; they were incredible and Beth was a pleasure to communicate with.

Bear Biscuits

CAKE

I had already ordered a cake for the star theme we were originally going with, so I had some very last minute changes to make with the cake makers!

I went for a &#;naked cake&#;, which had a cookies & cream flavoured sponge with vanilla buttercream, so the darkness of the sponge would show through. The pinecones, wooden stars & foliage were bits I already had, they were all from Hobbycraft.

The girls that made the cake were amazing and literally took the picture I had in my head and brought it to life. I like to go for 6&#; cakes of about 3 to 4 layers &#; the wooden board was one I bought from eBay, they&#;re not very pricey at all.

Bow & Beaus is a company I have followed on Instagram for a while, in case I should ever need some animal cake toppers, (you never know!). Their website is stocked full of different animals, which you can customise however you like. I chose the Mama and the Baby Bear which now live in Rupert&#;s bedroom! I also bought the little banner from them.

The cake was my favourite thing about the whole day. It brought everything together so beautifully and was admired &#; and tasted &#; by everybody!

PARTY BAGS

I filled little brown paper bags that I bought from Hobbycraft, and on each one used my Dymo machine to write the child&#;s name. We had a range of ages so I pretty much did them all their own, age appropriate party bag! For the babies, I put in some bubbles, a little bucket for the bath, (both from Flying Tiger, a Lanka Kade wooden figure and a mini book. I bought the Paddington Bear little library and split the set between the party bags &#; Roo loves these books & they went with the theme!

The older kids got chocolate, a Flump, one got a spy pen, I put in a lego figure and some baking bits. They all seemed to love them! One of our friends gave Tommy a hamper full of his favourite things for his birthday, I popped all of the bags in here ready to hand out at the end of the party &#; so easy to do and looked lovely.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Tommy & I bought Rupert a teepee for his birthday and it worked really well as a bit of a prop at his party. I filled it with any teddy bears he had and books which related to bears too. The little kids loved it in here! The one we have is from Verbaudet, it came with a really good discount and I love the style of it! The mat was from the same website but it comes separately, it is a soft fabric on one side and waterproof on the other.

A FEW TOP TIPS

> Set the start time to suit your babies nap time! At 12 months, Rupert was sleeping until between 2pm & 3pm each day. The party started at 2pm and when he woke up I got him dressed and bought him downstairs to a house full of people!

I didn&#;t worry about him still being asleep when people arrived, it meant everyone could settle and get a drink. It meant I wasn&#;t stressing about Rupert being tired and he was as happy as could be when woke up!

> PLAN, PLAN, PLAN. Every single minor detail. The more you do before the day, no matter how trivial it may seem, the less you have to do on the day! Which meant I was a tad more relaxed &#; ish.

> If you have older kids coming, let them explore the garden! Come rain or shine they were out there all day kicking a ball about and playing with the dogs. They also make fab little helpers, if they ask for a job, give them one!

> Don&#;t feel you have to open all of the presents at once, there and then. We asked if anybody would like to see theirs being opened and opened ones from grandparents but we saved lots for the next day and the one after that! Also &#; you don&#;t have to wrap all of the presents! Roo enjoyed ripping the paper off a couple but was more excited just to see everything set out.

> Buy more food than you think you will need!

> TAKE PHOTOS. Lot&#;s of them 🖤

Rupert's First Birthday Party

My battle with breastfeedingI cried the day I gave up breastfeeding so I took myself off and bought some new bras.

Breastfeeding is the most glorious heart melting, mothering and loving action you can share with your newborn child. That is of course if it works. The first four days I fed my beautiful little girl colostrum and hoped desperately for my milk to come in. The midwives applauded my perseverance daily and encouraged me for not offering formula, though when the feeds become every hour and my poor baby was clearly distressed from lack of food I began to question my judgement. The wearing and cracks caused by the demand on my nipples were beginning to take it&#;s toll. On the day they discharged me from hospital my daughter wouldn&#;t leave my breast, my milk had shown signs of arriving and she was there willing to take every drop without a break, the midwives literally suggested I pull her away after 3hrs straight just to get me in the car and out the door. We arrived home exhausted and grateful of creature comforts, we introduced our new baby to her home, the dogs and took our first breath as a family. We were home and ready to settle into our new life.

The following day my husband returned to work and that was when my baby began cluster feeding. With ten minute breaks throughout 8hrs my warn skin became open wounds, no amount of shields, balms or ice packs could help nor prepare me for the sight of my blood gushing out of my daughters mouth once pulling away from a feed. I had a little vampire on my hands, something I can laugh about now but at the time I was hysterical. I tried hand expressing but produced nothing but blood. I was beside myself, panicked, alone and with a starving baby screaming in my arms. Totally unprepared for the idea I wouldn&#;t be able to breastfeed I didn&#;t have a steriliser, breast pump or milk storing containers at home. Fortunately a friend had given me a sachet of formula at my baby shower and with that in mind and the tears streaming down my face I tried to calm my screaming child whilst I boiled the kettle and attempted to read the formula instructions. Once the bottle was in her mouth and devoured in only a few minutes I was able to call for help, sort out a breast pump, steriliser, bottles, teats, bottle brush, milk storage containers and formula.

Bottle FeedingI never had enough milk for my beautiful big baby girl, so for ten whole weeks I breastfed, followed up with a bottle and pumped milk in-between. I became a walking talking milking station. They say you should sleep when the baby sleeps, well clearly they hadn&#;t walked a day in the shoes of someone with low milk supply as her sleep time was my pumping, storing, cleaning and sterilising time. Hang on, I hear you say aren&#;t you meant to eat well, sleep and rest to encourage breast milk? I had little chance of that with my pumping routine. It was non stop and absolutely exhausting but I was happy to persist to make sure I could breastfeed my girl. I guess in the end it was my daughter&#;s decision that caused me to change. She loved the bottle, the ease and flow of never ending milk and her frustrations grew with my breastfeeding, never was she satisfied and quickly she knew a short suck on each breast resulted in a full bottle (containing what breast milk I had pumped and topped up with formula) She was drinking more than an average baby, she was of course an above average size and weight and continued to grow at a rapid pace. As the breasts became an obstacle to her main goal she began to show her irritation. If anyone has undergone breast refusal you will understand what it means to have full, sore breasts on offer and tears streaking down your cheeks as you plead with your babe to accept them only to be met with screams, scratches and tears on their end. I even attempted a standoff whereby I wouldn&#;t offer the bottle without her taking some breast first, but she let me know over the course of a few hours and days that her stubbornness was far greater than my will to fight. (I wonder where she gets that from?!)

I loved breastfeeding. I loved the closeness you have with your child, the nuzzling of their nose and the deep look they give you. I loved her head in my hand and the grip her fingers would offer wrapped around my little finger. But, in the end breastfeeding wasn&#;t the best option for her or me.

I persisted with morning feeds up until two weeks ago, when my daughter woke in the morning I could sneak her onto my breast and hope she&#;d get involved and take what she could get in her drowsy state. But, whether from my daughter&#;s lack of interest or my bodies response to rejection I dried up the other week and I had to come to terms with the fact it was my last day breastfeeding my daughter. I cried with her in my arms knowing I would never have that closeness with her again, that true dependence a child has on it&#;s mother. But as I popped a bottle into her mouth and she wrapped her tiny fingers around my pinky and smiled up at me I realised I was pushing breastfeeding for me, for the idea that society pushes upon you that breast is best and anything less is unacceptable, for the midwives that applauded a hungry baby over a top up of formula. Instead of helping ease my child&#;s stress and hunger I made her hold out. The decision should have been made by what she was telling me and what was and is right for her is to be full, happy and content from a bottle.
Happy baby= happy mumma
I hope that if I have another child I can successfully breastfeed, but if I struggle again I will know next time not to fear the looks from breastfeeding mums when I produce a bottle to feed my child with, not to kill myself and my body every waking minute if it&#;s not the right decision. The day I accepted that formula feeding would be the predominant form of milk for my child I changed, I remember it being week 10 and I finally thought, wow, I love this gig (motherhood) my baby was full, happy and smiling during her feed, she wasn&#;t fighting me, she wasn&#;t complaining. I relaxed and enjoyed motherhood on another level that I hadn&#;t felt before. I stopped caring what others thought because I knew I had a happy baby and that made me a proud and happy mumma.

So when I was able to pack away those horrendous maternity bras last week I went out and celebrated with buying some new bras. (Bendon have a great sale on at the moment check it out here). My Nana used to say to me &#;in proud moments in your life you have to go and buy yourself a new bra&#; I remember when I was 16 asking why I needed a new bra for being proud and she responded, &#;well if you&#;re proud of yourself you&#;ll push out your chest and let everyone know it.&#;
So I guess I had more than one reason for buying a new bra.

Seashells by the Seashore

The moment I step onto a beach I can&#;t help myself. My eyes immediately start darting around from side to side in search of seashells! This goes the same for my five year old. I guess the only difference is, she moves on to other things, playing in the water, building sandcastles. But once I start I can&#;t stop! I become obsessed. My favorite is laying on the edge as the water grazes my feet, both hands in the sand as I dig for my treasures.

I&#;m not bias. I love the uniqueness and beauty in them all, wether they are big or small. But I do have to say, there is nothing more rewarding then when you find the perfect shell. The one that doesn&#;t have a single chip on it. The ones you can enjoy in their entirety. When I find those I feel so accomplished.

FullSizeRender

I am however in search for the allusive spiral seashell. The one that you can enjoy in all its beauty without a single chip. I am beginning to believe this shell is the unicorn of all shells. I think the possibility of finding this rare shell is what drives my search&#; and so it continues.

UPDATE About a week after I posted this blog my husband aka lucky shit found a perfect shell spiral and all! Damn him! lol This has made me even more determined then ever&#; they DO exist!!

The Struggle is Real Pt 1: Spirit vs Flesh

Have you ever gone through a period of intense internal struggle where you sensed your spirit and your flesh battling it out for you? Your flesh begins to rear its ugly head again and all of a sudden temptations you had overcome in the past start creeping back up again. Old sinful habits that you had lost total interest in slowly start looking a bit more appealing&#;

One thing I’ve come to notice on this journey is that every so often, the enemy will try me.

It’s like he gets a memo that I’ve been going strong and he’ll try to send things my way in an attempt to entice me …to try and draw me away from God and back into sin. He knows our past weaknesses and vulnerable areas so well. And because he knows what we’ve struggled with before, he knows what stands a chance of working. So he sends one tempting situation after another hoping that we’ll eventually take the bait and go off course.

You’ll also notice that your temptation goes into overdrive right after you’ve had a major breakthrough, or when you’re right on the cusp of something great that God is bringing you towards. When you’re on the right path is when the devil tries the hardest to derail you. He’d prefer that you remain stagnant. At the end of the day, his goal is to do whatever he can to make sure we’re as far away from the purpose that God has for us as possible.

So, what are your triggers?

The more you pay attention to what has triggered you whenever you sin, the more you’ll be able to identify the things that “put you in the mood” for sin. It could be as simple as being around certain friends, being in certain environments (like clubs), listening to certain kinds of music, or it could simply be that you are more vulnerable at certain times of the day (like at night if that’s when you’re feeling lonely).

For me, I’ve realized that one of my biggest triggers is drinking. Once I’m a couple of glasses in, I start wanting to do things I know I shouldn’t, or talk to people I know I should be staying away from. And of course after a few glasses, I start to care a lot less about the consequences – I mean… I could just deal with them tomorrow, right?  Wrong.  Alcohol affects the soundness of our judgment, and in hindsight, many of the decisions I’ve made in life that I ended up regretting began with a glass.

If you find yourself wanting to do something you shouldn’t every time you drink, keeping it to a glass (literally) will definitely make a big difference. If you find yourself unable to resist the 2nd glass after having had the first, then maybe giving it up all together is the better way to go in the long run.

Ephesians –18 is a good reminder“Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise people, but as wise people – making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit.”

Drinking usually leads to reckless actions that we probably wouldn’t have done when sober. I don’t drink much anymore, but I’m praying that sometime in the near future I’ll be able to give it up altogether, because if I’m being honest, drinking feeds my flesh – hence the attraction to sin (the reckless actions) when I’m feeling ‘nice’.

So at the end of the day, whatever causes us to stumble in our walk with God must go – plain and simple. If drinking (or whatever your vice is) takes you a few steps back each time, can you whole-heartedly say it was worth it?

Matthew – 30If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away… And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.”

Some things are not worth doing if they cause you to regress. Some people are not worth keeping in your life if they’re tripping you up or holding you back from getting to where you know God wants to take you. You can’t get far with an anchor tied to your leg.

So I ask you&#; what are you holding on to that’s holding you back?

Romans tells us “Don&#;t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God&#;s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

The change in your behavior and in your life as a whole truly begins in your mind. Once you&#;ve made that mental decision on what you DON&#;T WANT to be doing or who you don&#;t want in your life, making your flesh conform is that much easier.

This message by TD Jakes titled &#;Nothing as Powerful as a Changed Mind&#; really wrecked me. It&#;s so true and extremely powerful. Give it a listen when you have some time; his sermons have encouraged me tremendously on my walk.

James alsoreminds us “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Man isn’t this the truth!! I never thought it was possible until I tried it and it worked for me. Now when I’m feeling tempted to go back into some old habits, I tell the Holy Spirit right then and there what I’m feeling tempted to do and that I need Him to take the ungodly desire away. Humbly surrender to God that you cannot fight the temptation on your own and you need His help. Test Him on it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Indulge in Him.

Lots of love,

Valerie

A love letter to my sewing machine

Dear Sewing Machine,

I&#;ve decided to write you this letter, well, because I miss you! I know it&#;s been months since I last touched you and I hope you aren&#;t taking it personally. It&#;s not your fault I left you all alone. I just needed a little adventure in my life, a temperary change of scenery. (You understand? Don&#;t you?) So please don&#;t hold it against me when I return.

There are so many things I miss about you&#; our late nights sipping on Asti, creating whatever our little hearts desired while laughing together watching our favorite shows. Sometimes you wanted to watch a drama and we cried. I miss your delicate stitches and the way you always turned on by just the touch of my hand. You never talk back to me. Or interrupt me. Always agreeing with my choices and supportive when I change my mind and for that I am grateful. I look forward to us reuniting and I already have so many plans for our future together&#; dresses, bags, maybe a doll! So until we see each other again. I&#;ll be thinking of you!

Your loving human,

Candace

My 3 Summer Obsessions

Summer is the time where everyone is trying to get outfits off because the sun is out and we all are having fun. Again, although it&#;s Florida it&#;s always &#;summertime&#; here. That&#;s really the only season we have. This season means more day parties, brunches, and just outings in general that requires full LEWKS. I have a few obsessions of my own that I want in my closet ASAP.

My summer obsessions aren&#;t anything crazy. These items are already in the stores or they are close to going on sale(my fave time to buy things).

Leopard Print Anything

It all started when I read a Glamour Magazine article about a leopard print skirt that everyone was wearing. It&#;s a midi skirt that works in any situation from casual to dressy. From there, I look at all the websites from Fashion Nova to Nordstrom Rack to Poshmark for anything with the print. I&#;ve found several dresses I want to pull the trigger on but I&#;m waiting. Right now, I&#;m feeling like the whole sneakers/dress outfit combo because of the mix of casual and cute.

Jewelry

After buying a whole bunch of stuff from ThredUP last month, I&#;m obsessed with my jewelry. Anything that can be stacked like midi rings, chokers, and bracelets are weasling their way into my wardrobe. I have to stop myself from buying more chokers and bracelets. Robert says I have a nice neck so I try to accentuate it and bring the eye to that area. It&#;s taking everything in me to not pull the trigger and not buy up any of those 2 things I can find. Stacking is such an effortless look and it makes any and every outfit look 10x cooler than before.

Classic Vans

Vans are some of the most comfy shoes I own. I have several pairs in my closet but I&#;m choosing to go the classic route and get a basic color. A shoe in either black or white goes with so much and they can be dressed up with a cute dress or casual with a pair of jeans and t-shirt. I&#;m leaning towards buying 2 pairs of white Vans: one to tie dye and another to just wear out and about. We all need a basic white pair of casual shoes in our closet and Van are a staple.
